Alternatively, Link can howl near these patches to summon the same animal.

As with earlier Zelda games, music plays a large role in Twilight Princess. Link can play a musical instrument, such as the flute or harp, to draw and summon different animals. He can also command the wolf's form through his voice. He can also use his compass as a way to help him navigate the world.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of vibrant and unique characters that leave an unforgettable impression. From hands emerging from toilets to pirate sailors sailing across vast oceans, these quirky and creative personalities are the heart of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of previous games, and introduces numerous memorable characters.

Link is introduced to new NPCs throughout the story, who are not only interesting, but also plausible. It's a major step towards the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a role in the story, rather than simply being there as victims. NPCs like Rusl who states that the forest is more risky now and kidnaps children as well as the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf to hide his identity when the kids are kidnapped each has their own unique personality.

Other notable characters are Iza who runs the Boat Rental Cabin in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who aids Wolf Link find a secret passageway into the castle through her bar, sewer system, and Faron whose spirit helps guide Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The duo defeats Diababa's Fused Shadow and obtains the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most interesting characters in the game. She can change between her human and wolf forms and has a piece of the Triforce of Wisdom. She tells Link about her experiences at the twilight, and how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant who is the other part of the Triforce of Wisdom, is an evil sorcerer and the ruler of the Twilight Realm. He was exiled to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for encroaching on their land and depriving the people. Zant's magic keeps him permanently in wolf form, but Midna dispells the power and allows him to transform into his human form when required.

Epona is an improved horse that can be ridden in both wolf and Hylian forms. Link can whistle near specific patches of grass in order to call the animal. (similar to Majora's Mask). The player can name the horse which makes Twilight Princess the first time in the series where the player can personalize their own horse.

Theme

Music is an important part of any Zelda title. It can make a game seem vast exciting, expansive, and captivating. Twilight Princess' soundtrack is often criticized for being inconsistent and sporadic and doesn't convey certain moments of emotion. In contrast, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have enthralling compositions that explode at precisely the right time to create a feeling of grandeur and eeriness.

Twilight Princess was composed by Asuka Ohta and Toru Minegishi. Koji Kondo, the composer of the series' first time since Wind Waker, was responsible for overseeing the composers. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a bold departure from the traditional approach to the franchise, with a minimalist approach to music and arrangement. The majority of dungeon and field themes begin with one instrument, creating an eerie and eerie atmosphere for the player. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring, where they encounter hostile monsters that kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen ear helps them track the children's scent to a bridge nearby that they cross over into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa, obtaining the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).


Midna at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link to a fiery stone and then uses her powers on the ice below Lake Hylia. Rutela's spirit, the recently deceased Zora queen appears to Link and informs him that he needs to visit the Lakebed Temple if he wants to gain access to the treasures of the Zora.

Twilight Princess allows you to ride Epona, the horse from Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. Unlike the set name used in the two previous games, Link can now decide the horse's name himself.

Midna and Link can retrieve the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. At the Palace of Twilight, the Sages reveal that Midna is actually the real ruler of the Twili, but she had been passed over for the monarchy, and then turned into the gods to obtain power. The Sages also tell them that the only way to defeat Ganondorf is to bring him into the light and break the pact between Twilight and Hyrule kingdoms.
